Trip to the Erie Maritime Museum

This morning we took a trip to the Erie Maritime Museum where we learned about the story of the Niagara as the reconstructed flagship of Pennsylvania and the warship that won the Battle of Lake Erie in the War of 1812. The boys were fascinated by all the “pirate stuff” as Aaron called it. No matter how many times I told him it was actually “sailor stuff”, he remained insistent that the Niagara was a pirate ship. We watched a cannon demonstration on one of the multimedia monitors and Aaron summed it up with:

If a cannon ball shoots through your tummy there would be a hole in your tummy and it would hurt.
